Get outside and tour your new neighbourhood

Who's excited for Spring? We certainly are. Getting outside and enjoying some warmer weather is on most of our minds. For those of you thinking of moving to Wellington West Lofts or Hintonburg in general, this could be a perfect time to soak in some sun and explore your potential new neighbourhood.

Starting at Parkdale Park next to Wellington West Lofts and heading East towards Preston Street here is a fun and easy walking tour of Hintonburg. The walking time is approximately 15 minutes one way so you can spend as much or as little time as you’d like exploring the stops along the way.

Let’s begin at the Parkdale Market

The Parkdale Market is a seasonal outdoor market, established in 1926 at Parkdale and Wellington, right across from the future home of Wellington West Lofts. The vendors range from large stalls full of locally grown fruits and veggies to smaller ones with lovely flowers and delicious herbs. The vendors are all incredibly friendly and proud of their produce.

Blumenstudio – 3 min walk

A trendy little hideaway one block off the strip. They have so many beautiful plants and floral arrangements to choose from. They also offer great coffee and delicious treats. Enjoy the laid back vibe, relax on the couch and say hello to their friendly pup Klaus.

Nu Grocery Store – 2 min walk

The average Canadian produces more than 700 kg of waste per year. When you shop at NU, you don’t create any packaging waste. All products are offered in bulk or redeemable glass containers. Bring a clean container from home or use NU’s compostable paper bags for dry products, or ready-to-use jars for wet products. You can easily reduce your food waste and save money by only purchasing the quantities that you need.

The Ministry of Coffee and Social Affairs – 1 min walk

The coffee, cocktails and treats are all delicious. Plus you can add Nutella to anything on their drink menu. Their beans come from unique Canadia roasters and their sugary treats are baked in house. During the day it’s a bit of scene with people relaxing, reading or getting some work done. Later in the day, they lower the lights, light the candles on the tables and it turns into a great place to chat and have a drink.

Tooth and Nail – 1 min walk

Hintonburg is Ottawa’s new hipster and young professionals mecca and is therefore full of fine individuals who take their craft beer quite seriously. Tooth and Nail has been very well received providing quite simply a great atmosphere in which to drink equally great locally made beer. The brewing area is a shiny and brightly lit area in the back which creates a great contrast with the darkness of the rest of the pub. There are at present seven beers available on tap, with the retail store selling cans and crowlers ( which are kind of like a refillable glass thermos )

Suzy Q – 1 min walk

To say Suzy Q Doughnuts is a pretty famous little gourmet doughnut shop in Hintonburg would be an understatement. There is often a long line of excited people trying to get their hands on delicious flavours like carrot cake, cherry bomb, maple bacon, raspberry oasis, mocha truffle and toasted coconut. If you’re a fan of delicious gourmet treats that can also brighten up your Instagram Story this is a must stop.
